What we do

One team, one guarantee, furniture that reads as architecture.

Bespoke fitted furniture means cabinetry designed to the exact dimensions of your room, not standard units disguised with end panels. Every piece is drawn around the space, made to order in your chosen finish, and installed floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall so it sits flush with the house.

We work across Shropshire and Herefordshire on projects ranging from a single alcove cabinet to a full-house fit-out. Whatever the room, the same small team surveys, designs, builds and installs, so nothing gets lost between the salesperson, the maker and the fitter.

Because every project starts with a physical survey and ends with a lifetime installation guarantee, the finished furniture behaves like part of the house, not like furniture placed on top of it.

Who it's for

Homeowners planning a renovation, moving into a period property with awkward proportions, or replacing tired freestanding furniture with something that fits properly.

When to plan it

During a renovation, before flooring goes down, or any time storage has stopped working. Made-to-measure lead times are typically 4–6 weeks, enquire early to protect an install date.

Why professional install matters

Old and new houses across the Shires rarely have square walls or level floors. Scribing, packing and floor-to-ceiling fitting is where bespoke furniture stops looking like flatpack and starts reading as joinery.

What happens if you get it wrong

Cutting corners here costs more than doing it once, properly.

Freestanding units that never quite fit

Off-the-shelf furniture leaves 30–60cm of dead space at the ceiling, along walls and behind panels. In a period cottage that is an entire cabinet's worth of storage lost.

Cheap carcasses that sag within a year

Thin MDF backs, unbraced sides and stapled joints drop, bow and split. Once the doors are hanging out of line, no amount of adjustment brings them back.

Damage to plaster, cornice and skirting

One-man-band installs leave cracked cornice, chipped skirting and visible packers behind the fascia. Undoing the damage often costs more than the furniture itself.

Most jobs we're called in to correct started as an online order or a rushed handyman fit in a Victorian semi in Hereford, a Georgian townhouse in Shrewsbury or a period cottage around Ludlow. Doing it made-to-measure the first time is almost always cheaper than the rip-out and rebuild.

Why homeowners choose Shires

The benefits of doing this properly, once.

Fits the room, not the catalogue

Sloped ceilings, deep alcoves, chimney breasts and dormer eaves, bespoke is the only category that fits period Shropshire homes properly.

Built to outlast the room

Solid carcasses, soft-close mechanisms, scribed installs and a lifetime installation guarantee. When trends move on, only the doors need to.

Every inch works for you

Internal storage is specified to how you actually use the room, hanging heights, drawer depths, shoe racks, jewellery trays, pull-out desks.

One team, one point of contact

Owner-led survey, one installer team, one guarantee. No handoffs between salesperson, factory and fitter.

Fixed price, no surprises

Written quote within 24–48 hours of the survey. No hidden extras added once the job is underway.

Adds value to the house

Well-fitted bespoke joinery is one of the few upgrades estate agents in Ludlow and Hereford routinely mention in listings.

The detail

Specified around your room, your finishes and how you actually use the space.

Finishes

Matte painted, satin lacquer, high gloss, natural woodgrain and mirrored options across shaker, slab, panelled and fluted door styles. Painted doors colour-matched to Farrow & Ball, Little Greene and Paint & Paper Library on request.

Hardware

Brushed and polished brass, matte black knurled knobs, satin nickel cup pulls, soft leather tab pulls, and true handleless push-open profiles. Every option is shown in-hand at the survey stage.

Internal storage

Soft-close drawers, velvet-lined trays, pull-out shoe racks, adjustable shelves, laundry hampers, integrated safes, sensor-triggered LED lighting and cable management routed at the survey.

Frequently asked

Straight answers, no hard sell.

What does bespoke fitted furniture actually mean?
Every carcass, door, drawer and shelf is made to the exact measurements of your room, in the finish and hardware you choose, not selected from a fixed catalogue and cut down. The furniture reads as part of the architecture, floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall, with no filler panels or wasted space.
What rooms do you build bespoke furniture for?
Bedrooms, dressing rooms, living rooms, home offices, hallways, landings, loft conversions, understairs voids and alcove recesses across Shropshire and Herefordshire. Residential only, we do not currently take on commercial fit-outs.
How much does bespoke fitted furniture cost?
Because every project is designed around the room, we survey before we quote. As a guide, most fitted furniture projects fall between £2,000 and £10,000 supplied and installed, depending on size, finish and internal storage. You receive a written fixed-price quote within 24–48 hours of the survey.
How long from enquiry to installed furniture?
Quote within 24–48 hours of the survey. Once a 50% deposit is placed, made-to-measure lead times are typically 4–6 weeks, followed by an install of 1–4 days on site depending on scope.
Is the furniture guaranteed?
Yes. Every piece carries a 5-year manufacturer guarantee on the furniture itself, and a lifetime installation guarantee from us, if anything we fitted moves, sags or comes loose, we return and put it right at no cost.
Can I mix finishes across different rooms?
Yes. Many clients specify one finish in the bedroom, a matching but darker finish in the living room and a painted finish in a home office. We record every specification so future additions match exactly.
Do you handle electrical work for integrated lighting or sockets?
We install low-voltage sensor LED strips inside cabinetry ourselves. Where mains sockets or a spur is required, we work alongside, or can recommend, a qualified local electrician and coordinate the visit around our install.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry full public liability insurance across every installation, so the room and your home are protected during the fit.
